CALL FOR PROPOSALS
convergent : the approach toward a definite value, as time goes on; or to a definite point, a common view or opinion, or toward an equilibrium state.
An outdoor mural/graffiti art show founded on the idea of seeing the world through the eyes of another. Take viewers on a journey of your world, through the power of the image. By connecting independent voices, we hope to strengthen the fabric of our community. Portfolios and proposals are being sought from artists for a show of epic proportions. Whether you apply your mural by spray, brush, tile, glass, or toilet scrubber, we want you to apply.
Over 6000 square feet of exterior building space will be turned over to artists (walls are approximately 10′ high and each artist will be eligible to receive from 30 to 80 feet long of wall space, based on jury decision).
There are 120 doors on the building, some of the doors will be auctioned to raise money to pay for the event/community, with a portion of the proceeds given to the artists. (Artists will receive money for the doors that are auctioned which fall within the scope of their mural). The auction will occur during the event and will continue online for the duration of a month. Doors will be made available at the end of the summer to the winners. Auction winners will also receive a photo of the mural in its entirety. Please consider summer temperatures in Arizona, as your choice of materials will need to withstand the outside temperatures of the desert.
Individual and collaborative/crew submissions are both encouraged. Graffiti Artists, Muralists, Public Artists, Sculptors, if you are interested and can demonstrate through a portfolio of work that you are capable of carrying out your proposal, we would love to review your work for possible inclusion in our show.
The Event: An afternoon and evening event focusing on the murals and auction, complimented by vendors, food, live (7 bands) and dj music, entertainment, film.
Where it is: 1700 Curry is located in Tempe, AZ. It is currently beginning the transformation from a storage/warehousing facility, into an arts community.
