Spraygraphic Interview with Artist Diego Beyro
SG: Please tell us about yourself?
DB: I am Diego Beyró, from Argentina. I am an artist living and working in Argentina. I spent my last two years at Fabrica, the Benetton communication centre, in Italy.
SG: What mediums do you work with?
DB: I dont like limits, so everything is welcome. I have worked with oils, acrylic, pencil, computer, and I want to experiment more and more.
SG: Describe your working process when creating a new work.
DB: First I need ideas, and for me, there is no process for that. Once, I have an idea, I try to find the best way to produce it. If I stay relaxed, the medium comes to reality, and that’s why I dont really care about the medium. I always prioritize the idea.
SG: What kind of things do you do when you get blocked or find it hard to create something?
DB: A professor once told me: “Good ideas comes when you are distracted”. That’s the key for me, that’s what I try to do and with that little phrase I never get frustrated. I just take it and then let it flow
SG: Where are you currently finding your inspiration?
DB: In my normal life: magazines, blogs, women, my cat. Sometimes dancing and so on. The key is just keeping an open eye all of the time.
SG: Where has your work been seen?
DB: In Argentina, United States, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Chile, Colombia and Lebanon. Magazines and newspapers, and some books.
SG: Where will it be seen next?
DB: I hope all over the globe.
SG: What is your dream art assignment?
DB: Being big, very big.
SG: What is your favorite color?
DB: It was red, now green.
SG: Who is your favorite artist? And Why?
DB: I have been changing my mind about this. I think I don´t have a favorite. It used to be Dali, probably that is why I wear a mustache. On the other hand I love Renaissance. I love Klimt’s work and Egon Shciele. Nowadays, I’m enjoying the Gottfried Helnwein’s work. He already did all the things I’d ever wanted to make, and better than I was expecting. I remember the day when I discovered him…
SG: Ever do a self portrait? Where is it now?
DB: I never have.
SG: What book/magazine are you reading this week?
DB: Argentina is full of great magazines and I love to consume them. There is a new one called Carne which has super good quality. Atypica is also super good. We have a lot of good mags down here. And theuncoolhunter.com is simply amazing.
SG: Where is your favorite place to hang out?
DB: Bars and airports.
SG: Any final words of advice?
DB: Enjoy life, as far as we know, its the only thing we have.
