Spraygraphic Interview with Ryan Fors
SG: Please tell us about yourself?
RF: My name is Ryan Fors. I’m a Graphic Designer from Minnesota. I love design and things that make you stop and look. I have a thing for splatters, splashes, drips and all things grungy. I love hip-hop and sports. I collect screen print art and shoes.
SG: Where do you currently live and work?
RF: Currently live in Burnsville, Minnesota with my wife and our 3 kids. I work at a design agency during the day and do the fun stencil work at night.
SG: What mediums do you work with?
RF: Spray paint and some acrylic on canvas
SG: Describe your working process when creating a new work.
RF: I usually just start with an idea or a person to work on. Do a quick sketch. Take it to the computer and illustrate it. Print and spray. I do a lot of freehand/make it up as I go along. Just trust it’ll come out nice.
SG: Where are you currently finding your inspiration?
RF: I get alot of inspiration from my friends and wife. They are all very talented. Also graffiti culture and anything grungy.
SG: Where has your work been seen?
RF: I’ve done a few shows here and there at a friends studio but am really trying to get started getting my name out and about.
SG: Where will it be seen next?
RF: Hanging on your walls
SG: What is your dream art assignment?
RF: I’d love to work with one of the local sports teams. Timberwolves, Vikings, Twins, Wild, Lynx. I’m a big time sports fan.
SG: What is your favorite color?
RF: Black. I also like metallics and kinda wanna try using the glow in the dark ink.
SG: Who is your favorite artist? And Why?
RF: I have a lot of favorites. My friends and wife are all very talented and I get tons of inspiration from them.
SG: What book/magazine are you reading this week?
RF: Does reading night time stories to the kids count?
SG: Ever do a self portrait? Where is it now?
RF: No. Can’t imagine anyone is interested in that but my mom.
SG: Where is your favorite place to hang out?
RF: In my garage studio listening to music and painting
SG: Any final words of advice?
RF: Love what you do and do what you love
